Terms of Service

Last updated 10 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and [operator name] ("we", "us"), who runs Pixquilt. By creating an account, posting, commenting or otherwise using Pixquilt, you agree to them. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use Pixquilt

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • You can't use Pixquilt if we have suspended or removed an account of yours before, or if the law where you live forbids it.
  • Visitors without an account may look at public pages and leave comments where the owner allows guest comments. These terms apply to them too.

2. Your account

  • Give a working email address that is yours. We use it to confirm your account and reset your password. It is never shown to other people.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into it.
  • Your username becomes your page address. Don't pick one that impersonates someone else or infringes a trademark. We may take back a username that does.
  • One account is for one person. Don't sell, trade or hand over your account.

3. Your content

"Content" means anything you put on Pixquilt: pictures, videos, stories, captions, comments, messages, your profile picture, name and bio.

  • You keep ownership. We don't claim any rights in your content beyond what we need to run the site.
  • The licence you give us. So that we can run Pixquilt, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, resize, convert (for example, turning a video into a format browsers can play), and show your content to the people your settings allow. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in our short-lived backups (see the Privacy Policy) and anything we must keep for legal reasons or an open report.
  • You must have the right to post it. Only post content you made or have permission to share. If other people can be recognised in it, make sure they are happy for it to be posted, especially in anything public.
  • Keep your own copies. Pixquilt is not a backup service. You can download everything at any time from account settings.
  • We remove location and other hidden metadata (such as EXIF and GPS data) from uploaded pictures and videos, but anything visible in the picture itself stays visible.

4. Private accounts, private posts and share codes

  • New accounts are private: only people you accept as followers see your posts. You can make your account public in your settings.
  • You can make individual posts private. A private post can be opened by anyone who has its share code, whether or not they have an account. Treat a share code like a key: anyone you give it to can pass it on. You can change or remove it at any time.
  • Private means hidden from other members and visitors. It does not mean hidden from us: staff can see private content when they need to, for example to deal with a report or a legal request.
  • Owners see how many people viewed each of their posts and stories, but never who.
  • Once someone has seen your content they can always take a screenshot or a copy. We can't stop that, so only share what you're comfortable with.

5. Comments and messages

  • You decide whether your posts take comments, and you can delete any comment on your posts.
  • Guest comments (from visitors without an account) are allowed where the post's owner allows them. Guests are bound by these terms in the same way as members.
  • Direct messages, including pictures and videos sent in them, are private between the two people in the conversation. If one of them reports the conversation, staff can read it to decide what to do. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted.
  • When you block someone, neither of you can see the other's page, posts or comments, follow each other or exchange messages.

6. What you may not do

Don't post or send anything, or use Pixquilt in any way, that:

  • sexually exploits or endangers children, in any form. We report it to the authorities;
  • shows nudity or sexual activity of anyone who hasn't agreed to it being shared, or any intimate image shared to harm someone;
  • harasses, bullies, threatens or stalks anyone, or shares someone's private information without their permission;
  • promotes violence, terrorism, or hatred against people because of who they are;
  • encourages self-harm or suicide;
  • breaks the law, or infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • impersonates a person or organisation, or misleads people about who you are;
  • is spam, scams, fake engagement, or advertising nobody asked for;
  • contains malware, or tries to get into accounts, data or systems you aren't allowed to;
  • scrapes, crawls or downloads content in bulk, or gets around privacy settings, share codes, blocks or rate limits;
  • puts an unreasonable load on the site or interferes with how it works.

7. Reports, moderation and takedowns

  • Anyone who can see a post, comment, story or account can report it with the Report link on it. Members can also report a conversation from their messages.
  • Staff review reports and may remove content, suspend an account or delete it, depending on how serious the problem is. We keep a record of what was done and why.
  • We don't check content before it goes up, and we aren't responsible for content other people post. We act on reports and on what we come across.
  • Copyright and other legal complaints. If you believe something on Pixquilt infringes your rights, email [contact email] with: who you are and how to reach you; the address of the page; what right is infringed and why; and a statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or allowed to act for them. We may pass your complaint to the person who posted the content.
  • If we remove your content or suspend your account and you think we got it wrong, email us and we'll take another look.

8. Ending your account

  • You can delete your account at any time from account settings. This deletes your profile, posts, stories, comments, likes, follows and the messages you sent. It can't be undone.
  • We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, puts other people or the site at risk, or where the law requires it. Where it's reasonable and safe, we'll tell you why.
  • We may also close Pixquilt altogether. If we do, we'll give members reasonable notice to download their data first, unless we can't.
  • Sections 3 (for content still held in backups), 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply after your account ends.

9. The service

Pixquilt is free and provided "as is". We work to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that content will never be lost. We may change, add or remove features at any time.

10. Liability

  • To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, profits or opportunity, or for content posted by other people.
  • To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything related to Pixquilt is limited to £100 (or the equivalent in your currency).
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing takes away your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.
  • You are responsible for the content you post. If someone makes a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, as far as the law allows.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Pixquilt changes or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters, we'll tell members on the site before it takes effect. If you keep using Pixquilt after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of [country whose law applies], and its courts can hear any dispute. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you still keep the protection of your own country's mandatory laws and can bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us first: most problems can be sorted out by email.
